BHeads up on a cool benefit auction happening right now on eBay: The Skatepark of Tampa is taking bids on the Tampa Turtle and sending the money to Jonny Romano's family. The turtle is autographed by the likes of Ryan Sheckler, Bam Margera, Paul Rodriguez, Mark Gonzales, and pretty much everybody else who skated at Tampa Pro this year. You have until October 6 to make bids.
More info, via the Skatepark of Tampa website:
At this past year's Tampa Pro Contest, local artist Chad Cardoza created his own version of Jeremy Fish's turtle trophy, but Cardoza's creation was made from a turtle that had a former life as a piece of playground equipment. The turtle was placed in the Pro Shop and was signed by most all of the pros who skated at the Contest. In light of recent events, we have decided to auction off this turtle with all the proceeds going to the family of Johnny Romano. Get yourself a piece of skateboarding history and help out those in need at the same time.
Also, DLXSF has a nice Johnny Romano Memorial Tribute blog running. This kid managed to inspire a whole lot of people in the skateboarding world.
To make other donations to the Romano family in their time of need, or to make donations in Johnny's name to the Make A Wish Foundation, Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, or Texas Children's Hospital, click here.
