"We were watching the news and there was a story about some 3-year-old kid who was playing in the shallow end of a mostly drained pool, and slipped into the scummy deep end water and drowned. We got the address from the newscast and skated that thing for months. We called it the Dead Kid pool." – DAVE DUNCAN, reminiscing about the good ol' days with a bunch of pool slashers for Slap Magazine.
I kind of got out of the habit of updating my quotes of the day, but this one from World Cup Skateboarding megaphone Dave Duncan jumped out at me today: the Dead Kid Pool! Gotta love it. How hardcore is your pool search effort? Plus... this story is totally timely because that double-dealing Dagger was on NBC and CBS this weekend, doing it up as MC on the Dew Tour and in the rebroadcast of the Maloof Money Cup, which I just got around to watching on the DVR. Sick stuff!
said this before and I will say it again: It's a damned shame they tore down that Maloof skate plaza and crazy vert ramp the next day. Next time, build it somewhere that needs that stuff (like... um... everywhere) and leave it there when the contest is over. DD, Rob Dyrdek, Jake Brown, Sheckler... any of you dudes who now have some access points, please go bend those Maloof dudes' ears about this issue on behalf of skateboarders everywhere. Thanks!
