Let's hear it for David Loy, Cody Davis, Felipe Gustavo, Timmy Knuth, and Kechaud Johnson, top 5 at the Volcom Damn Am event in Costa Mesa over the weekend (full results here, via SPoT). The first four are guys I've been tracking for a few years: David Loy, for example was the Free Flow Tour winner winner in 2006, the year before Chaz Ortiz, who was the winner before Timmy Knuth won it last month. Cody Davis and Felipe Gustavo are a couple of young rippers who have been all over the am contest scene. I've never heard of Kechaud Johnson, but will try to start paying attention.

Daniel Espinoza won the Best Trick contest with a frontside bluntslide to fakie on the Darkstar rail: I don't know a lot about him either, but did see him skate at Tampa Am last year. Another one to start paying better attention to. This was the last of the Damn Am contests for the year, building up to Tampa Am December 4-7
