Things are going to be looking quite a bit different at the Dew Tour: Chris Cole, Dennis Busenitz, and Ryan Decenzo took down the Prelims today at the Skate Open in Boston, and not a one of them ever bothered to grace a Dew Tour contest before. So why now? Chris Cole won the Maloof Money Cup – now also an Alli Sports property – earlier this month, and has some X Games gold under his shoestring belt, so he's not averse to the big mainstream contests, despite his street cred. The Dew Tour and the Alli Sports people have increasingly done some big things right to establish some cred, and they've proven they're not a flash in the pan too: Can you believe this is year #5?
Cole, Busenitz, and Decenzo aren't the only new-to-Dew Tour names in today's Prelims results: When you flip on NBC tomorrow, watch for the likes of Peter Ramondetta, Tyler Hendley, Nick Dompierre, and Dave Bachinsky alongside 2008 champ Chaz Ortiz and the rest of the (pre-qualified) Dew Tour regulars.
Wait, wasn't there one other big-name A-list skater coming to make a big splash on the Dew Tour? Oh, there he is, way down in dead last 43rd out of 43. Maybe @erickoston was busy Twittering? Over on the official Alli Sports site, Paul Zitzer's calling it the Koston Tea Party.
