As a public service announcement on behalf of our friends at the Keep A Breast Foundation and the Burlesque Hall of Fame – and as an opportunity to post the smokin' hot poster above – here's a press release for the Breast Defense event at The Fallout in Las Vegas this Friday:
May 12, 2008, Las Vegas, NV — The Burlesque Hall of Fame and The Keep A Breast Foundation are pleased to announce the opening of Breast Defense: Glamour Girls For Early Detection, an exhibition of one-of-a-kind plaster molds cast from the busts of such legendary burlesque icons as Tempest Storm (Striptease Girl, Teasearama) and Tura
Satana ((Miss Japan Beautiful, Russ Meyer's Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!), as well as modern day neo-burlesque and pinup sensations Immodesty Blaize (Miss Exotic World 2007), Michelle L'amour (Miss Exotic World 2006, America's Got Talent), Jami Deadly, Sabina Kelley and Heidi van Horne and many, many others.
Customized by today's most exciting contemporary artists—including Amy Sol, David LaChapelle, Derek Hess, Elizabeth McGrath, Gary Baseman, Iggy Pop, Jerry Misko, Kat von D, Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), KRK Ryden, Mark Mothersbaugh, Mitch O'Connell, Tim Biskup and Hi-Fructose co-publishers Annie Owens and Attaboy—the casts will be on display at Downtown Las Vegas' The Fallout Gallery from May 23- June 28, 2008.
"I'm extremely grateful to all of the artists and 'glamour girls' who donated their time and talents for this exhibition," said Keep A Breast Co-Founder and Executive Director, Shaney Jo Darden, "The finished pieces aren't just beautiful, they're meaningful. Each one is unique, yet they all speak to the importance of being aware of your body and maintaining a healthy, positive body image—regardless of your age, shape or size."
Breast Defense opens for previews on Friday, May 23 from 6pm-9pm, with a special Artists Reception to follow on Thursday, June 5 (also from 6pm-9pm). The Fallout is located at 1551 South Commerce Street in Las Vegas, Nevada. Regular gallery hours are:
